What is the Standard?

A sustainability accreditation designed specifically for hospitality businesses, The Food Made Good Standard assesses behaviour, measures action, celebrates progress and provides a roadmap towards further improvement.
The Standard is awarded to restaurants and F&B businesses that meet a set of criteria focused on sourcing, society and environment. Through this accreditation, our aim is to encourage and recognise excellence in sustainability practices across the global foodservice industry.
why is this important?
Limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees is a large, urgent challenge, and requires each of us to act. It is not enough for businesses to signal that sustainability matters, they must demonstrate that they are taking action across all areas of their business. Diners care more than ever about sustainability. The Food Made Good Standard is a third-party certification, which signals to your staff, suppliers and customers that yours is a progressive business which understands that doing the right thing for people and for the planet is core to operations.

WHAT’S INVOLVED IN THE PROCESS?
WHAT’S INVOLVED IN THE PROCESS?
To achieve The Food Made Good Standard a business must score 50% or higher on the Food Made Good evaluation. Answers and evidence are submitted digitally on our custom-built, intuitive and user-friendly platform. Each submission is evaluated, evidence is checked, and further questions may be asked, before a final report is completed with a score along with an action plan for improvement.
Businesses scoring 50% or higher have achieved The Food Made Good Standard and are recognised via a star system once referred to by leading UK newspaper The Sunday Times as the Michelin Stars of Sustainability.

You need 12 months of operations to be assessed. For newly opened businesses, we can provide a provisional standard based on however many months of operations there are but require you to resubmit after 12 months.
If you are yet to start trading we can help you integrate sustainability into your whole business from the beginning. See our projects for more information.
Aponiente is working to achieve the highest possible certification of the Standard. That is why I would like to call on friends and colleagues to join in, to push together to make our industry the best for the planet and, above all, for people.
