Big News: Food Made Good Officially Launches in Australia

WE ARE THRILLED TO SHARE SOME BIG NEWS: THE FOOD MADE GOOD STANDARD NOW HAS AN OFFICIAL PRESENCE IN AUSTRALIA!
Businesses across Australia can now sign up to assess their sustainability and celebrate their progress with the Food Made Good Standard, the global certification designed for the hospitality sector.
Collaboration is a core value of ours at The SRA, and we know local networks are important in hospitality; that’s why we work with organisations who want to help us bring Food Made Good to their regions. Building these localised partnerships enables us to grow and deliver the Food Made Good Standard internationally, with partners in place to build awareness and offer localised guidance to restaurants on the ground.
These on-the-ground partnerships show a growing movement of industry networks around the world with a shared vision to make food good for both people and planet. Over the past two years, while maintaining our valued partnership with The SRA-J in Japan, we’ve announced new partnerships and associations with Green Media in Taiwan, restaurateur Omar Shabib in Dubai, Boniviri in Italy and Singapore’s F&B Sustainability Council.
With 2025 properly underway, we are so excited to bring you the news that the Food Made Good Standard now has an official delivery partner in Australia: Innavi.
Why Innavi is the perfect Food Made Good partner
Innavi was the perfect choice for this new partnership: their mission is to build a future where the hospitality industry leads the charge in environmental stewardship. Innavi is committed to transforming commercial kitchens across Australasia into sustainable, eco-friendly operations, combining sector-specific expertise with environmental consciousness to create greener pathways in the hospitality industry. By providing cutting-edge tools, knowledge and resources, they aim to inspire meaningful change and actively contribute to a healthier planet.
Innavi’s team develops and implements sustainable practices tailored to the unique needs of each kitchen, revolutionising the hospitality industry by providing innovative solutions that reduce environmental impact while enhancing operational efficiency and creating great spaces to work.
These solutions include designing and installing commercial kitchens; providing tailored demonstrations to equip kitchen staff with the knowledge and skills to implement sustainable practices effectively; offering guidance in building sustainable supply chains; and, now, bringing the Food Made Good Standard to kitchens across Australia.
Recognising how busy F&B operators are on a day-to-day basis, Innavi will also offer assistance with Food Made Good applications to make the process as simple as possible. Their team will support businesses throughout the application, helping to gather all the necessary information and navigating the digital submission platform with ease.
Australia’s first Food Made Good-certified business
Food Made Good in Australia is off to a fantastic start. In 2024, we welcomed our first Australian business to the Food Made Good network. Led by Chef Dan Hunter, Brae is more than just a restaurant – it's a haven nestled in the Otways hinterland, just outside Melbourne. Brae earned a remarkable three stars in their first Food Made Good evaluation, an achievement that speaks volumes about their dedication to making a positive impact on both people and planet.
Up to 90% of the restaurant’s ingredients come from their own farm, from vegetables and native Australian plants to olives and honey, and they’ve planted 1,500 native trees since opening. The team mills their own flour to bake their own bread, presses their own olives for oil and brews beer from organic wheat grown on-site. For the remaining ingredients they need, they carefully select small-scale local farmers who use regenerative practices. They seek rare breed heritage animal growers and maximise the kitchen’s use of cuts and by-products, and they only purchase fish sourced from healthy stocks, always looking for ways to minimise harm to marine and freshwater ecosystems while avoiding destructive fishing methods.
Brae uses rainwater harvesting and dams to conserve water for irrigation. They’ve also reduced CO2 emissions by 86 tonnes by using solar electricity and have diverted 212,400kg of organic waste from landfills through closed-loop composting! Giving back to the community is another priority, hiring from long-term unemployed and older demographics and raising over $166,000 for their local community to date.
Brae is a true leader in sustainable hospitality and a fantastic business to have on board as our first antipodean Food Made Good certification. With Innavi working as our official partners in Australia, we know this will be the first of many.
