Hospitality is an industry that can elevate lives — but inequities in pay, progression and workplace experience continue to limit people’s potential and weaken the sector. That’s why Be Inclusive Hospitality is launching Better Hospitality, a campaign to create informed commitment to a fairer, stronger, more inclusive industry.

The campaign brings together sector-wide research, significant industry expertise and practical employer standards that support informed, measurable change, with a particular focus on race and ethnicity in the workforce. 

The survey is now live, and this is your chance to contribute. It explores pay disparities, career pathways, and progression barriers across hospitality. 

The insights you share will inform a practical set of Equity & Progression Standards for employers, developed by a diverse Leadership Group of senior industry leaders and published, alongside the research findings, in a landmark report this September.

Better Hospitality is Be Inclusive Hospitality’s major 2026 initiative to accelerate equity, progression and belonging across the industry with a particular focus on race and ethnicity.

In September 2026, the campaign will deliver a report containing a set of practical, commercially grounded Equity & Progression Standards that employers can adopt to build fairer, more inclusive workplaces. The campaign brings together leaders and organisations committed to measurable change and a stronger, more sustainable hospitality industry.

The Better Hospitality survey is designed to review inequities in pay, progression and workplace experience within the sector. Better Hospitality will: 

• publish research highlighting pay disparities, career pathways and progression barriers,
• launch a set of Equity & Progression Standards defined by senior leaders,
• give employers the insight, tools and collective leadership needed to elevate talent and strengthen organisational performance, and
• build a growing network that sustains momentum through shared learning, events, case studies and transparent reporting.
