What is the Great Big Green Week?
The Great Big Green Week – taking place this year between 8th and 16th June – is a nationwide week of climate and nature events. Organised by The Climate Coalition, the Great Big Green Week brings people from all over the country together in a week-long celebration of positive, hopeful, collective action to tackle climate change and protect nature.
This year is all about swaps, whether it’s friends swapping fast fashion for second-hand finds, parents swapping cars for bikes on the school run or businesses swapping fossil fuels for solar panels.
Why take part?
We know that food brings people together. Cafés, restaurants and retailers play a crucial role in shaping sustainable practices within local communities. By joining the Great Big Green Week, you have the opportunity to:

- Green up your menu: Use your daily specials to promote your sustainable recipes and suppliers, or run a green-themed menu for the week. You could share one recipe day on social media using the hashtag #GreatBigGreenWeek!
- Join a Green Week: Many communities across the UK run their own ‘Green Weeks’, a collection of local events in one area. Why not connect with other local environmental groups, suppliers or businesses who are also planning events to join up into one Green Week?
- Share your story: Take this opportunity to celebrate the sustainable initiatives you’ve already put in place by shouting about them. If you’ve swapped to local ingredients, reduced food waste or implemented measures to save energy. tell your story on social media using the hashtag #SwapTogether.

Make sure you add your events to the website so that other people in your local area can find out about what you’re planning using the event finder. Once you’ve added your event to the website, you’ll be sent a FREE pack of branded materials – including posters, bunting and flyers – to show at your event.
