FOOD MADE GOOD IN HONG KONG
Bringing Food Made Good to Hong Kong
Food Made Good has had an active network in Hong Kong since 2019. Though initially licensed and led by Heidi Yu Spurrell, The Sustainable Restaurant Association now has a dedicated team on the ground in Hong Kong and manages all Asian partnerships internally.
We have a growing number of accredited businesses in Hong Kong and across the wider APAC region, and are thrilled to play a role in this exciting period of evolution as more operators see the value in adopting sustainable practices.
Food made good in HONG KONG today
Based in Hong Kong, Karen Finnerty heads up our APAC team as Growth & Partnerships Director. Specialising in strategy development and implementation, brand positioning and advocacy, Karen brings 13 years of experience in PR and communications to our table. Karen is part of our international Communications Team, spreading the Food Made Good Standard and message, both in Hong Kong and across the globe.
In addition to supporting F&B businesses as they go through the evaluation process and become Food Made Good accredited, our team also works closely with Hong Kong’s hospitality sector to offer advice and resources that can facilitate the transition to a more sustainable future. This includes speaking opportunities, hosting events and workshops and developing practical toolkits and guides.
If you’re a hospitality operator in Hong Kong and you’d like to talk to us about joining our network, please reach out to Karen at karen@thesra.org.
What is the Food Made Good Standard?
Developed by The Sustainable Restaurant Association, the Food Made Good Standard is the only global sustainability certification that has been designed especially for the hospitality industry. Robust and evidence-driven, the Standard takes a comprehensive, holistic approach to what sustainability should mean for this influential industry, based on detailed criteria across its three pillars of Sourcing, Society and Environment. The Standard measures progress, encourages a culture of continuous improvement and rewards excellence, and is a core part of how we work to achieve our mission of driving positive change through the F&B sector worldwide.
Is the Food Made Good Standard available globally?
In 2023, we developed a new iteration of the Food Made Good Standard. Not only did this include an updated, more user-friendly platform and a brand new website to match, but we also called on a range of experts to contribute as we re-developed the question set that restaurants must complete for their evaluation and the supporting evidence required. The Standard is now more comprehensive than ever – plus, it's now also accessible and applicable for F&B businesses anywhere in the world. The Food Made Good Standard is now being used in over 30 countries, across a network that includes restaurants, hotels, cafés, bars, catering companies and universities. You can read more here about how the Food Made Good Standard continues to drive change across the globe.
