THE PARTNERSHIP IS THE FIRST PROJECT OF "BONIVIRI DOING GOOD," THE UNIT SPECIALISING IN SUSTAINABILITY CONSULTING TO CORPORATE COMPANIES, THE HO.RE.CA SECTOR AND AGRICULTURAL ENTERPRISES
Catania/London, June 7th, 2023
The "Food Made Good" Standard lands in Italy thanks to the exclusive partnership between The Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA) and Boniviri, an innovative Sicilian start-up and benefit company founded with the mission of creating value with food. The goal of the partnership between Boniviri and The SRA is to help restaurateurs, food & beverage managers and chefs address issues in the food system and to ensure customers adopt an internationally recognised standard that certifies the social and environmental commitment of companies operating in the restaurant industry.
Thanks to this partnership, companies in the Italian HO.RE.CA sector will have access to support services toward certification offered exclusively by Boniviri and, through the Food Made Good Standard. Businesses will be able to measure and improve their approach to sustainability issues such as energy and water consumption, food waste, seasonality of supply, relationship with suppliers and treatment of staff, among others. To this end, Boniviri has built a dedicated team composed of agrifood professionals and coordinated by Corrado Paternò Castello, Founder and Administrator of Boniviri, and Lucia Perasso, a consultant specialising in the "Food Made Good" standard.
"The agrifood sector has a great responsibility when it comes to sustainability, being able to make conscious and responsible choices along the entire supply chain, from field to table," declared Corrado Paternò Castello, Founder and Administrator of Boniviri. "Thanks to this partnership, we will be able to spread in Italy — the beating heart and protagonist of the history of Mediterranean food — the most recognised sustainability standard in the world for the catering sector, offering the opportunity for companies to demonstrate through concrete actions their environmental and social commitment and put sustainability at the centre of their operations."
The team at the SRA is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Sicilian company Boniviri, bringing the Food Made Good Standard to more hospitality businesses across Italy.
Since 2010, The Sustainable Restaurant Association has set the Standard for sustainable foodservice businesses globally. The SRA connects businesses around the world to accelerate change towards a hospitality sector that is socially progressive and environmentally restorative through the world’s largest sustainability certification tailored for the sector: Food Made Good.
Accelerating positive change across the global hospitality industry is no small task, and the SRA is eager to forge strategic partnerships that help expand its reach and share its message. With its focus on protecting local agriculture and its links with the Italian hospitality industry, Boniviri is an ideal partner. The SRA looks forward to working collaboratively with Boniviri to engage with the Italian HO.RE.CA. sector, creating new connections and building a sustainable future for dining out in Italy.
Welcoming the partnership, Managing Director Juliane Caillouette Noble said,“We are excited to be collaborating with Boniviri to introduce Food Made Good to the Italian market. We believe deeply in collaboration and in working with partners who share our values and our vision for a better food system, and in Boniviri we have found both.”

About The SRA
Since 2010, the Sustainable Restaurant Association has supported foodservice companies through sustainability advisory and assessment services, while empowering their customers to make more sustainable choices when eating meals out.
In partnership with restaurant companies, nonprofits and private and public food industry entities, SRA defines the concept of sustainability for the industry, assesses behaviours and practices, measures actions and celebrates successes.
The goal is to accelerate and facilitate a paradigm shift by certifying progressive businesses, and network among them through the Food Made Good programme. SRA is the author of the "Food Made Good" Standard, the third-party certification that aims to make the path to sustainability tangible and measurable for restaurants, bars, pubs, catering services and mass catering.
The Food Made Good Sustainability Standard is the global gold standard on measuring progress across the industry. It is the world’s most comprehensive sustainability certification specifically designed for foodservice. This 360-degree evaluation of operations sets out what ‘good’ looks like, rewards action over intention and provides businesses with a thorough and tailored action plan for improvement, as well as a third party certification ideal for communicating to team members, customers and other stakeholders.
This signature tool has been used to assess and certify the sustainability of more than 15,000 sites since 2010. To ensure its continued accessibility, applicability and alignment with global standards (including the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals) for chefs and restaurateurs wherever they are, the SRA has consulted with leading subject experts and chefs from across the world.
