By Max Coltart, Head of CODE Careers.
At CODE Hospitality we have the privilege of working with some of the best businesses in the hospitality industry. Our partners include Hawksmoor, JKS Restaurants, MEATliquor, Hakkasan Group and St. JOHN.
Founded by Adam Hyman in 2012, CODE operates a media and consultancy business. Under the media brand, we publish the weekly CODE Bulletin and CODE Quarterly magazine, as well as run the CODE app – the only dedicated digital benefits platform for the industry – and CODE Careers – a digital jobs board through which the best restaurants, hotels, bars and private members’ clubs advertise for senior roles.
We all know the importance of people to a business, especially in our industry. With the ongoing issues around recruitment and retention of talent, we want to understand more here at CODE Hospitality. It’s for this reason that we’ve embarked on our inaugural Happiness in Hospitality survey.
We’re proud of our industry but we need to keep moving forward – the results of this report will be a step towards understanding how we do that. We want to look into wellbeing and the quality of life for those working in the sector, as well as the way it is perceived. We want to touch upon the more qualitative aspects of the industry – looking at staff meals, changing facilities, training and education. And whether you’d recommend hospitality as a career path.
The report – that will be published in September’s issue of CODE Quarterly – can help answer crucial questions such as; What are the key factors that help to retain your best staff? How prevalent are harassment and abuse and where does that come from? What is in place to protect mental health across the industry? There’ll also be key takeaways that can help businesses across the industry compare their performance and understand areas for improvement: details such as whether your turnover rates are typical for your sector, how your benefits package stacks up against the competition or if your talent-attraction strategy lines up with candidate’s interests.
This survey should take no longer than 5 minutes to complete. Be assured that all answers provided will be held in the strictest confidentiality. Help yourself and your colleagues in the industry by completing the survey now.
