Last year, for the first time, one of the industry’s most respected shows took a major positive step by dedicating a significant part of the event to all things sustainable. We were delighted to partner with the organisers of the Restaurant Show on the Conscious Hospitality Show.
The new show represented deserved recognition of the ever growing importance of a shift in the industry. As William Reed who run the show, said themselves: “This is the show that captures the moment. The age of the conscious consumer has arrived and hospitality businesses are competing to satisfy their appetite.”
A number of Food Made Good Approved Suppliers took stands in the dedicated Supplier Pavilion, taking the opportunity to showcase their sustainable products and services to thousands of foodservice businesses.
And, SRA Members like Mark Selby of Wahaca, Huw Gott of Hawksmoor, Martin Morales of Ceviche and Simon Boyle of Brigade, discussed some of the hottest topics in sustainability in lively daily panel sessions, alongside other industry experts and commentators like Tristram Stuart, Arthur Potts-Dawson and Joanna Blythman. The Living Wage, tipping, local sourcing and food waste were just some of the issues up for discussion.
SRA President Raymond Blanc also enthralled the audience as he brought together a plateful of sustainability issues while assembling a stunning seasonal menu of dishes.
So, we’re excited at the prospect of doing it all again, only bigger and better, at Conscious Hospitality 2016. There’s a new layout which should give suppliers a prominent base and put the panel sessions firmly on the map of all visitors to the show. Those sessions will all be during lunchtime. We’re working on their themes and titles and will be reaching out to Members participate in the next few weeks.
